April is Here!

Can you believe it? April! We are 1/4 of the way through 2011.

March flew by, which left me wondering, where did my goals go to? Here’s an April update and a new set up goals.

1. Submit Grad school application and Grad school scholarship application. (Check. I was accepted to the school, not I am just waiting to hear back on the scholarship).

2. Actually get up to 6 miles running. (Check, considering where I was at last month I am really surprised I met this goal. I am now up to running 65 minutes. I will be going for my 70 minute run next week)

3. Finish a book (ICheck! I finished Seth Godin’s “Poke The Box”, I really recommend it.)

4. Improve public presentation skills.(Check. I definitely made some progress in this area. Our department successfully hosted a company wide training program and I was able to present my portion of the program. It was a first and I really enjoyed it)

5. Learn a new scripture (Boo! I can’t say I have been very intentional about this one. I have mediated and reviewed certain scriptures throughout the month but I have not internalized them. More one this later…)

6. Turn 23. (this one is sort of a given). Done!

Since I’ve really enjoyed writing my February and March goals I thought I would continue the trend for April.

1. Laugh more.
2. Get outside whenever possible
3. Listen, learn, and be open to change in my new leadership role at work.
4. Run my very first 12K, without stopping.
5. Find a scripture to be “anthem” and learn it.
6. Do something new in Asheville.
7. Get involved in the Biltmore YMCA Community.

I have elaborated on my scripture goal this month.

Last month, I learned a lesson about memorizing scripture, it is much easier to member scripture when you meditate on it throughout the day. My goal this month is more than simply learning a scripture, it is living the scripture. You can learn from a pastor, you can learn from reading, but until you actually live and declare the power behind God’s word you cannot fully absorb it.
