For the majority of the last two years our married world living arrangements have consisted of white walls and very little color. Painting wasn’t an option in apartment world and art was never really a priority.
I noticed tonight that over the past few months we have boldly stepped into the world of color and art. So I thought I would share with you some of my favorite (and not so favorite) pieces.

1. Count Your Blessings Jar –I love love love this little jar!
My mom bought it for us for our anniversary. The top is made of corkscrew material and the vase is obviously pottery. I have been adding the names of friends or family members to the jar as a reminder of all my many “blessings”. Matthew and I hope to pull a name every so often and use it as an opportunity to pray for God’s blessing over that person and their family.
2. Asheville Skyline—Oh, Asheville. Although I never imagined I would be living in my hometown after being married and getting a real job. I have to say that this town is still full of surprises. When mom and I went to the Biltmore Village Craft Fair this weekend and I saw this little picture of downtown Asheville I knew that this was not just a piece of art but a memory of a town that holds so many treasured moments of my life. This particular painting was done by Jeff Pitman, local Asheville artist and oil painter. As you can see the painting is still in wrapper form. In the end I’m hoping to find a really unique way to display the mini version of the world’s coolest home town.
3.I’m not an artist TAKE ONE—There are plenty of ways to tell you “I can’t paint” but what better way than to display this humble little reminder on my wall. My canvas catastrophe was created at Paint and Mingle with a group of ladies from Church In Motion. We had a great time, but this painting still reminds me of something I would have made in 3rd grade. It’s only saving grace is that my living room has a black and red theme going on and this painting matches perfectly. So for now, it stays!

4. Fish Kisses—OK, it’s not technically “art” but I love this little card that my sister-in-law gave us for our anniversary and I’m leaving it on my counter for as long as possible. So cute!
